While perusing the Ballard Designs website and dreaming of making a purchase, I came across some wall art that I truly loved! However, like most things at BD, I quickly scrolled by when I saw the price. I so wish I was closer to their outlet!
I got to thinking later….. “What’s my problem? I can DIY that!”
And, so it began…
I actually liked two of them, so I will split them up into two separate posts.
The first piece of wall art from Ballard Designs that I loved was this one…
But, they are so huge (30″ x 42″) and I needed more of a smaller version. So, I decided to start with a trip to the Dollar Tree for frames…
The Dollar Tree always has a pretty good selection of frames. They aren’t fancy, but I like a more plain style of frame. Even though the original art had a much more ornate frame, I settled on these gold ones and bought 2 for $2.
Next, I needed some mats. I was going to cut my own, but I’m unnecessarily intimidated by cutting mats. So, I decided to pick up a couple from Walmart. I bought 2 for $1.87 each.
Printed out this image that I created (click on the image to download a printable)….
Put it together and I have something that resembles that Ballard Designs art on a much smaller scale. It fits the space without overpowering it.
So, all in all, I spent a little under $6 for something that would have cost $518 (for the larger version).
Be on the look out for Part 2 of this post coming soon!
