When we moved into our home seven years ago, I bought some dining room chairs for our eat in kitchen area from JCPenney. They were nice for a while, but the stretchers were less than ideal. By now, most of them were either completely broken or pulling away from the rest of the chair.
We did have two of the four chairs that were still relatively sturdy which was fine for just Mark and I. However, when we had guests, I said a little prayer and hoped the chairs wouldn’t give out.
So, after months of living the broken chairs, we decided to bite the bullet and get some better, sturdier chairs for the place that we eat every day. I loved the look of these from Restoration Hardware:
But, they just weren’t in my budget, and they still didn’t give me the sturdiness factor that I was looking for. That’s when I came across these at Kohl’s:
They had the same look and feel I was after, but I felt that the metal would make them sturdier.
When we purchased these, they were already on sale and I had a 30% off coupon. I also went through Ebates and got back 3% cash back. Kohl’s was also giving Kohl’s cash at the time which I spent on some sheets we desperately needed. So, all in all, I felt like I got a pretty amazing deal!
Now that we have them in the kitchen, I already love them so much more than the others. Here’s what they look like in the space:
As for a review, I would say the pros were the price, the style and the sturdiness. I feel like these will last a lot longer than the others we had. Also, they came un-assembled, but they were super easy to put together.
There aren’t that many cons. Right now, I only have two. One is that the bottom of the back metal “X” piece sticks out a little. So, sometimes when I go to sit down, the metal catches my pocket and moves the chair. I just have to get used to watching what I’m doing. The other one is that they aren’t very comfortable. But, it’s not really a chair for lounging. 🙂
