Fall is creeping up on us and, at least for some, our lives are becoming more and more hectic! For that reason, I’m always looking for new ideas on how to keep my life organized which in turn keeps my stress level down!!
I’ve had a list of organizing tips from Zenhabits bookmarked on my computer for a while, and today, I’m going to share them with you and show you a quick craft project to help corral all those papers.
Obsessive- Compulsive’s Guide: Top 12 Organizing Tips
1. Everything in its place.
2. Start small.
3. Create routines.
4. Clean as you go.
5. All info in one place.
6. Put it away now. Right now, no exceptions.
7. Use an inbox, and empty it.
8. Keep a simple filing system.
9. Google Calendar (or your preferred electronic calendar system)
10. A simple system for pending items.
11. Make your system usable.
12. Create a landing strip.
Now that we’ve got the tips, let’s start on the project!
First, you’ll need a couple of large wooden clothespins. I got mine at Wal-Mart for about $1 each. You will also need craft paint in the colors of your choice, paint brushes, and embellishments.
The first step is to take the metal spring out of the clothespins. This will make them much easier to paint.
Now, just paint them in the colors of your choice. I had to do two coats on mine.
After the pins dry, use some glue (I used E-6000 — this stuff is amazing!) to attach my embellishments to the pins. The embellishments I used are just office magnets from the clearance section at Wal-Mart.
After the glue dries, put the spring back in and you’re done!!
I’m using these on my desk to hold papers/mail that I need to act on pretty immediately. It helps me to prioritize the things I need to do daily.
Got any great tips/ideas for staying organized? I’d love to hear about them!
Have a great day!
