Recently, I purchased a couple of necklaces from Kohl’s that I loved, but I didn’t love the length. They were more like a choker on me and I couldn’t get used to it. So, I was trying to come up with a way to lengthen the necklace without buying more chain for it. The chain links were a large diamond shape that I probably wouldn’t be able to match, and I wasn’t really a fan of it anyway.
After seeing these necklaces on Groopdealz, I thought… yeah… ribbon!
The first step was to remove all the chain. I left one link attached to the necklace so I would have somewhere to thread the ribbon through.
Next, measure out the length of ribbon you will need and double it. Cut two pieces of ribbon this length.
Thread the ribbon through the ends of the necklace. I used a small glob of hot glue to attach the ends of the ribbon together for added support.
After that, attach a ribbon end clamp to each end of the ribbon.
Then, reattach the original clamp to the necklace, and you’re done!
Here is the necklace complete with the new length. I like it so much better — at least it doesn’t choke me!!
