My husband is a HUGE Pittsburgh Steelers fan. I half expect that if you cut him, he’d bleed black and gold. Since I commandeered the rest of the house, I figured the office could be his Steelers Shrine. One day while he was at work, I painted this Steelers logo on the wall. I think I won the “Best Wife Ever” award that day.
Sure, I could have gone to Fathead or some other decal website and bought something for the wall. But, those are pretty pricey and since I already had the supplies, my logo was practically free.
Want to create you own? Here’s how!
Paint/Paint Brushes (would vary depending on your design)
1. Find/scan an outline drawing or create one yourself with Photoshop (if you are super talented!) and print it out on a transparency sheet.
2. Use a projector to project your image onto your wall.
3. Outline the drawing with a pencil using a light hand.
4. Fill in!
I used a Sharpie pen to outline my decal when I was done to clean up some of the edges and to fill in the lettering. I wouldn’t recommend it because I’m sure it is going to take a lot of Kilz to cover that up when/if we ever re-paint the room. But, alas.. you live and you learn.
I also added accent lines of black and gold at around chair rail height that extend to all four walls. You can sort of see it along the bottom of the logo in the photo. That was just done by using painters tape to block out three lines — one thick and two thins — and painting it with the same colors that I used on the logo. I think it adds a little interest to the other walls.
I’d love to see some pictures if you have done this in your own home!!
